Tafluprost eye drops are prostaglandin analogs and selective EP prostaglandin receptor agonists used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
This product is an esterified prodrug that can enhance its corneal permeability and is converted into an active carboxylic acid form (AFP-172) after enzymatic hydrolysis and enters the aqueous humor. AFP-172 promotes the outflow of aqueous humor between the choroid and sclera by interacting with prostaglandin FR receptors, thereby reducing intraocular pressure.
