Effects and efficacy: This product is a second-line drug for urethritis, prostatitis, cervicitis and rectal infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is limited to infections caused by penicillin, tetracycline and other drug-resistant strains. This product is not recommended for pharyngitis caused by gonococci. Since most patients with gonorrhea are also infected with Chlamydia trachomatis, a 7-day course of tetracycline, doxycycline or erythromycin should be used after treatment with this product.
Dosage and administration:
For intramuscular injection only. Adults: For cervical, rectal or urethral Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection, a single dose of 2g intramuscular injection. For disseminated gonorrhea, 2g is injected intramuscularly once every 12 hours for 3 days. The maximum dose is 4g, injected intramuscularly on both sides of the buttocks. This product uses benzyl alcohol as a solvent and is prohibited for intramuscular injection in children. Before use, add 3.2ml of 0.9% benzyl alcohol injection for every 2g of this product and shake it to make it a suspension.
Adverse reactions:
Since this product is mostly used as a single dose of 2g, adverse reactions are rare. Some patients may occasionally experience pain at the injection site, short-term dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and insomnia. Occasionally, allergic reactions such as headache, transient dizziness, fever, rash, and decreased hemoglobin, hematocrit, decreased creatinine clearance, and increased alkaline phosphatase, urea nitrogen, and serum aminotransferase are seen. There are also cases of decreased urine volume.
Drug contraindications:
Allergic to this product is prohibited. Children are prohibited. Pregnancy is prohibited. Lactation is prohibited.
