Iodine pralidoxime injection, a Western medicine name, is a cholinesterase resurrection agent. It has different degrees of resurrection effect on the activity of cholinesterase inhibited by acute organophosphorus insecticides, and is used to rescue poisoning by various organophosphate insecticides.
However, it has poor effect on poisoning by malathion, trichlorfon, dichlorvos, dimethoate, dimefox, mipafox and schradan, etc.; it has no resurrection effect on cholinesterase inhibited by carbamate insecticides.
The earlier this product is used for patients with organophosphorus insecticide poisoning, the better. Patients poisoned by skin absorption should take off contaminated clothes and wash hair and skin with soap while using this product. Rinse eyes with 2.5% sodium bicarbonate solution and physiological sodium chloride solution.
Adverse reactions:
Injection may cause nausea, vomiting, increased heart rate, temporary S-T segment depression and prolonged Q-T time on electrocardiogram. Too fast injection speed may cause dizziness, blurred vision, diplopia and uncoordinated movements. Excessive doses may inhibit cholinesterase, inhibit breathing and cause epileptic seizures. Bitter taste in the mouth and swelling of the parotid gland are related to iodine.
