Effects and efficacy: Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. It can inhibit cyclooxygenase, reduce the synthesis of local prostaglandins in tissues, inhibit the chemotaxis of leukocytes and the release of lysosomal enzymes, and exert its pharmacological effects. It can be used clinically to relieve various arthritis, fever, gout, toothache, migraine, muscle strain, postoperative pain and other corresponding symptoms. Usage and dosage: Tablets and capsules for pain and swelling of arthritis and soft tissue lesions: oral administration, initial 20 mg once a day; maintenance dose is 20 mg a day, a few patients can reduce the dose to 10 mg a day. The maximum daily dose is 20 mg. When it exceeds 20 mg, the risk of gastrointestinal ulcers increases significantly. Please follow the doctor’s advice for details. Enteric-coated tablets: 20 mg once a day, orally after meals, the maximum daily dose is 40 mg. Intramuscular injection: 10-20 mg once a day. Locally used for symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis Gel: Apply an appropriate amount of the drug to the affected area, 2-3 times a day; Liniment: Apply an appropriate amount of the drug to the affected area, 2 times a day; Ointment: 10-20 mg at a time, apply to the affected area, 1-2 times a day, massage to allow the drug to be absorbed into the skin. Patch: Apply to the affected area, 1 patch at a time, once a day. Note: For oral medication, it can be given after meals or taken with food or antacids to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Generally, it is difficult to achieve a stable blood drug concentration 7-12 days after the start of medication. Therefore, the evaluation of efficacy often needs to be made 2 weeks after medication.
