Nitrofurantoin Enteric-coated Tablets

Effects and efficacy:
It is used for acute lower urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Enterobacter and other bacteria that are sensitive to this product. It can also be used to prevent urinary tract infections. Note: This product is not suitable for the treatment of pyelonephritis, nor can it treat infections caused by viruses (such as the common cold or influenza); Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus are usually resistant to this product.

Urinary tract infection 1. Nitrofurantoin tablets/Nitrofurantoin enteric-coated tablets: oral medication. Adults: 50-100 mg once, 3-4 times a day, low doses for simple lower urinary tract infections, please follow the doctor’s advice for details. Children over 1 month old: 5-7 mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses. The course of treatment is at least 1 week, or at least 3 days after the urine culture turns negative. Please follow the doctor’s advice for details. 2. Nitrofurantoin suppositories: rectal administration. Adults: 100 mg once, 1-2 times a day; please follow the doctor’s advice for details. Children over 1 month old: 50 mg once, 1-2 times a day, or as directed by a doctor. The course of treatment is at least 1 week, or at least 3 days after the urine culture turns negative. Prevention of urinary tract infection (for patients with recurrent urinary tract infection) 1. Nitrofurantoin tablets/nitrofurantoin enteric-coated tablets: oral. Adults: 50-100 mg per day, taken before bedtime; please follow the doctor’s instructions for details. Children over 1 month old: 1 mg/kg per day, taken before bedtime, please follow the doctor’s instructions for details. 2. Nitrofurantoin suppositories: rectal administration Adults: 100 mg per day; please follow the doctor’s instructions for details. Children over 1 month old: 50 mg per day, please follow the doctor’s instructions for details. Note: The medication should be taken strictly according to the time prescribed by the doctor’s instructions, and the dosage should not be reduced or stopped at will. When used to treat urinary tract infection, the course of treatment is at least 7 days, or the medication is continued until the bacteria in the urine are cleared for more than 3 days. Liver function should be tested regularly during medication, and renal function should be checked regularly for patients receiving long-term treatment.
