Midodrine HCl

Function:
For the treatment of orthostatic hypotension. Only used for those whose lives are still severely disrupted after clinical care, including non-drug treatments (such as medical assistive stockings), volume expansion and lifestyle changes. Female stress urinary incontinence.

Dosage:
Hypotension is treated according to the tone and reactivity of the patient’s autonomic nervous system and adjusted accordingly. The following dosage is recommended: Adults and adolescents (over 12 years old): Starting dose is 2.5 mg, 2 to 3 times daily. According to the patient’s response and tolerance to this drug, the dose can be increased once every 3 to 4 days, reaching 10 mg each time, 3 times a day. This product should be taken during the day when the patient needs to stand up for daily activities. Recommended dosing times at 4-hour intervals are as follows: in or before morning uprightness, at noon, and in the late afternoon (usually no later than 6 p.m.). If necessary, administration can be given every 3 hours to control symptoms, but this should not be done frequently. Those who received a single dose of 20 mg had a higher incidence of severe and persistent supine hypertension (approximately 45%). Although some patients can tolerate daily doses exceeding 30 mg, its safety and effectiveness lack systematic research or confirmation. Due to the risk of causing supine hypertension, this product should only be used in patients whose symptoms have improved significantly after the initial treatment, and changes in supine and standing blood pressure should be regularly monitored. If supine blood pressure rises excessively, use of this product should be stopped. . Since desglycinated midodrine is excreted by the kidneys, it should be used with caution in patients with abnormal renal function; although there is a lack of systematic research, the recommended starting dose for these patients is 2.5 mg. For adults with urinary incontinence, 2.5 mg to 5 mg each time, 2 to 3 times a day. Usually the daily dose does not exceed 10 mg. The dose can be adjusted according to the patient’s condition under the guidance of an experienced doctor. To prevent supine hypertension, midodrine hydrochloride tablets should not be taken after dinner or within 4 hours before going to bed. The same medicines produced by different manufacturers may have inconsistent instructions. If you find any inconsistency in the instructions before taking the medicine, please consult your doctor or pharmacist in time.
