methimazole、thiamazole

Effects and efficacy:
Methimazole tablets and methimazole enteric-coated tablets are suitable for various types of hyperthyroidism, especially for: patients with mild disease and mild to moderate thyroid enlargement; adolescents, children, and elderly patients; patients with recurrence after thyroid surgery who are not suitable for radioactive I131 treatment; preoperative preparation; as an adjuvant treatment for I131 radiotherapy. Methimazole cream is used to treat hyperthyroidism. Long-term treatment can relieve the disease, and can also be used to improve hyperthyroidism symptoms before subtotal thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine treatment, and for those who cannot undergo surgical treatment.

Usage and dosage:
Methimazole tablets and methimazole enteric-coated tablets are taken orally. Common dosage for adults: The starting dose is generally 30 mg per day, which can be adjusted to 15-40 mg according to the severity of the disease, and the maximum daily dose is 60 mg, taken orally in divided doses. After the disease is controlled, the dose is gradually reduced, and the daily maintenance dose is between 5-15 mg according to the disease needs, and the course of treatment is generally 18-24 months. Common dosage for children: The initial dose is 0.4 mg/kg per day according to body weight, taken orally in divided doses. The maintenance dose is about halved, depending on the condition. Use a precision metering pump to squeeze out 0.1g of methimazole cream each time (containing 5mg of methimazole), and then apply it evenly to the skin on the surface of the thyroid gland in the front of the neck (between the Adam’s apple and the suprasternal fossa, the local raised area for patients with obvious thyroid enlargement). Use your fingers to gently rub the applied area for 3-5 minutes to allow the drug to enter the thyroid gland. The results of a randomized double-blind clinical study of this product showed that oral methimazole tablets three times a day, 10mg each time, and topical application of this product three times a day, 10mg each time, had similar clinical efficacy. Therefore, patients with a fixed oral dose of methimazole tablets of 10mg three times a day can switch to this product three times a day, 0.2g each time (containing 10mg of methimazole) for local application. This product is a topical transdermal drug. In addition to the recommended usage and dosage in this manual, the dose correlation between other doses of this product and oral preparations is not clear, so oral preparations should be used when making dose adjustments.
