Losartan Potassium Tablets

Effects and efficacy: Losartan potassium has the effect of dilating blood vessels and is mainly used to treat essential hypertension. Usage and dosage: For hypertension: For most patients, the starting and maintenance dose is usually 50 mg once a day; the maximum antihypertensive effect can be achieved after 3-6 weeks of treatment. In some patients, the dose can be increased to 100 mg once a day under the guidance of a doctor, which can produce further antihypertensive effects. Patients with insufficient vascular capacity (such as patients treated with high-dose diuretics) can consider using a starting dose of 25 mg once a day. For heart failure: The starting dose is 12.5 mg once a day. Usually, the dose is gradually increased at weekly intervals according to the tolerance of each patient until the maximum dose that the patient can tolerate is reached (12.5 mg/day, 25 mg/day, 50 mg/day, 100 mg/day or 150 mg/day). The maximum target dose is 150 mg per day. Other diseases: For diabetic nephropathy, type 2 diabetes with a history of hypertension: starting dose 50 mg once a day; maintenance dose, 100 mg once a day. Polycythemia: 25-50 mg daily. Hypertensive patients with Marfan syndrome and left ventricular hypertrophy, prevention of cerebrovascular accidents: starting dose, 50 mg, once a day; maintenance dose, 100 mg, once a day. Medication for special populations Pediatric medication: For children who can swallow tablets and weigh ≥20kg to <50kg, the recommended dose is 25 mg once a day. The maximum dose can be increased to 50 mg once a day. For patients weighing >50kg, the starting dose is 50 mg once a day. The maximum dose can be increased to 100 mg once a day. Children’s medication must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor and adult supervision. For elderly patients or patients with renal impairment (including dialysis patients), there is no need to adjust the starting dose. For patients with a history of liver damage, 25 mg can be considered as the starting dose.
