Function:
Loperamide is mainly used for the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. This product can bind to the opioid receptors on the intestinal wall and inhibit the release of acetylcholine and prostaglandins, thereby reducing propulsive peristalsis and increasing intestinal transit time. In addition, it can strengthen the anus Sphincter tone, thereby reducing fecal incontinence and urgency.
Dosage:
Adults with acute diarrhea: If loperamide hydrochloride capsules are used, the first dose is 4 mg (2 capsules), and then 2 mg (1 capsule) every time diarrhea occurs, until the diarrhea stops or the dosage reaches 16 mg (8 capsules) per day. If loperamide hydrochloride granules are used, the starting dose is 4 bags for adults, and then 2 bags after each unformed stool. Chronic diarrhea: If loperamide hydrochloride capsules are used, the starting dose for adults is 2 to 4 mg (1 to 2 capsules), and 2 to 12 mg (1 to 6 capsules) per day. After the effect is evident, 4 to 8 mg ( 2 to 8 capsules) for maintenance treatment. If loperamide hydrochloride granules are used, the starting dose is 4 bags for adults. Later, the daily dose can be adjusted to maintain 1 to 2 normal stools a day, and no more than 16 bags per day for adults. Acute diarrhea in children: If loperamide hydrochloride capsules are used, children over 5 years old take the first dose of 2 mg (1 capsule), and then take 2 mg (1 capsule) every time they have diarrhea, until the diarrhea stops, the maximum dosage is 6 mg (3 capsules) )/day. If loperamide hydrochloride granules are used, 2 bags for children over 5 years old, and 2 bags after each unformed stool. Chronic diarrhea: If loperamide hydrochloride capsules are used, children over 5 years old should take 2 mg (1 capsule). In the future, the dose should be adjusted according to the stool condition. Children should not exceed 3 mg/20 kg per day. If loperamide hydrochloride granules are used, children over 5 years old should take 2 bags. Later, the daily dose can be adjusted to maintain 1 to 2 normal stools a day. Children should not exceed 6 bags/20kg body weight per day.
