Fusidic acid

Effects and efficacy:
The oral dosage form of this product can be used for osteomyelitis, sepsis, endocarditis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, skin and soft tissue infections, surgical infections or traumatic infections caused by sensitive microorganisms, especially staphylococci. Eye drops can be used for acute bacterial conjunctivitis caused by sensitive bacteria. Creams can be used to treat skin infections caused by staphylococci, streptococci, Propionibacterium acnes and other bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid.
Usage and dosage:
The oral dosage of fusidic acid can be appropriately increased or decreased according to the severity of the infection. Please follow the doctor’s advice for details. Fusidic acid oral suspension: Adults and children over 12 years old, 500 mg each time, 3 times a day; children aged 1-12 years old, herpes caused by sensitive staphylococci, 20 mg/kg per day according to body weight, orally in two times; other infections caused by sensitive bacteria, 30 mg/kg per day, orally in three times. Fusidic acid dry suspension: Adults and children over 12 years old, 0.75g each time, 3 times a day; 6-12 years old, 0.5g each time, 3 times a day; 1-5 years old, 0.25g each time, 3 times a day; children under 1 year old, 50mg/kg per day, divided into 3 doses. Fusidic acid cream: 2-3 times a day, apply to the affected area. Fusidic acid eye drops, one drop each time, once every 12 hours. Note: Since fusidic acid is metabolized in the liver and mainly excreted through bile, patients with liver dysfunction, biliary disease or biliary obstruction, bilirubin transport or metabolic disorders should monitor liver function during oral fusidic acid, and should also monitor liver function during high-dose long-term treatment.
Adverse reactions:
Oral fusidic acid may cause the following adverse reactions: The most common gastrointestinal discomfort, such as upper abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea and vomiting. It may cause jaundice or abnormal liver function, which is usually reversible after discontinuation of the drug. Rare blurred vision, dizziness, headache, etc. Rare hematocytopenia and allergic reactions. In addition, topical use of fusidic acid may cause rash and local irritation.
