Famciclovir Tablets

Effects and efficacy:
Famciclovir has antiviral effects and is mainly used for herpes zoster and primary genital herpes.

Usage and dosage:
Dosage Tablets, dispersible tablets, granules: for herpes zoster and primary genital herpes, 250 mg each time, 3 times a day (once every 8 hours), the course of treatment is 7 days; sustained-release capsules: for herpes zoster and primary genital herpes, 375 mg each time, 2 times a day, the course of treatment is 7 days. Patients with renal insufficiency should adjust the dosage and dosing interval according to renal function. For details, please refer to the instructions or follow the doctor’s advice. In addition, the “Chinese Clinical Drug Dictionary” also recommends the following dosage: Recurrent genital herpes: 1000 mg each time, 2 times a day, only for one day; patients with impaired immune function can take 500 mg each time, 2 times a day, for 7 consecutive days. Inhibition of recurrence of genital herpes: 250 mg each time, 2 times a day; patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can use 500 mg each time, 2 times a day. This inhibitory medication should be administered once every 6-12 months, depending on the actual situation. Please follow the doctor’s advice for details. Usage: Oral. Dispersible tablets can be taken directly orally/swallowed, or they can be put into about 100ml of water and shaken for dispersion before oral administration. The medication should be started as soon as possible after the first symptoms (such as tingling, burning pain, and blisters) appear. Food generally does not affect the effect of famciclovir, and the medication can be taken before or after meals. In order to prevent recurrent genital herpes, the course of medication may be as long as 1 year. You should follow the doctor’s instructions and take the medication regularly, and do not stop the medication at will. Even if your symptoms improve quickly after taking the medication, please take the medication in full within the prescribed course of treatment. Taking less medication or missing medication may increase the risk of viral resistance to the drug.
