Chloramphenicol

Effects and efficacy:
Commonly used for various infections caused by sensitive bacteria, mainly for typhoid, paratyphoid and Salmonella infections. Eye drops are used for eye infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as trachoma, conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, etc. Ear drops are used for otitis externa and otitis media. Chloramphenicol vaginal preparations are used to treat bacterial vaginosis. Chloramphenicol liniment is used for seborrheic dermatitis and folliculitis caused by sensitive bacteria. Note: Systemic administration of chloramphenicol is not suitable for the prevention or treatment of mild infections, and overdose, prolonged treatment or repeated treatment should be avoided.
Usage and Dosage:
Adults take 1.5-3g per day, divided into 3-4 times; children take 25-50mg/kg per day according to body weight, divided into 3-4 times; newborns do not exceed 25mg/kg per day, divided into 4 times. Children should take the medicine under the guidance of a doctor and under the supervision of an adult. When taking this product orally, you should drink enough water and take it on an empty stomach, that is, take it 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, in order to achieve an effective blood drug concentration.
Adverse reactions:
Allergic reactions: including rash, angioneurotic edema, etc. Gastrointestinal symptoms: abdominal distension, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, etc. Oral symptoms: oral mucosal congestion, pain, erosion, angular cheilitis, glossitis, etc. It can cause optic neuritis, visual impairment, multiple neuritis, neurological deafness and severe insomnia. Sometimes toxic psychosis occurs, mainly manifested as hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, disorientation, mental disorders, etc. The use of chloramphenicol on the basis of chronic diseases, urticaria, rash, infantile eczema and other allergic diseases may cause symptoms such as petechiae, ecchymosis, and nosebleeds, and some may experience pallor, jaundice, high fever and sore throat.
Drug contraindications:
Allergic to this product is prohibited for newborns, prohibited during lactation, prohibited during pregnancy, and used with caution in patients with liver and kidney dysfunction.
