Chlorambucil is an aromatic derivative of nitrogen mustard and an active cytotoxic drug. Its clinical indications include Hodgkin’s disease, several non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, and advanced ovarian adenocarcinoma. It also has significant therapeutic effects on some breast cancer patients.
This product is a dual-function alkylating agent, classified as a non-specific drug in the cell cycle, and has the strongest effect on the M and G1 phases of cells. It produces alkylation by forming a highly active ethyleneimine group, which mainly causes cross-linking on the two helical chains of DNA and affects its function, thereby destroying DNA replication and exerting an anti-cancer effect.
