Bosentan Dispersible Tablets 波生坦分散片

Bosentan dispersible tablets are a prescription drug used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and are endothelin receptor antagonists. It helps dilate pulmonary blood vessels, lower blood pressure and improve heart function by blocking the action of endothelin. It is suitable for PAH patients with WHO functional grade II-IV and must be used strictly in accordance with doctor’s instructions.

Drug category and mechanism of action
Category: Endothelin receptor antagonist (ERA).
Action: Selectively blocks the binding of endothelin to receptors on vascular smooth muscle, inhibits vasoconstriction and fibrosis, thereby relieving pulmonary artery pressure and delaying disease progression.
Indications
Adult pulmonary arterial hypertension: including idiopathic PAH, hereditary PAH or connective tissue disease-related PAH.
Pediatric patients (approved in some countries or regions): The dose needs to be adjusted according to body weight and used under the guidance of a doctor.
Usage and Dosage
Usual dose: The initial dose is 62.5 mg twice a day, and after 4 weeks, it is adjusted to 125 mg twice a day according to tolerance.
‌Dosage: Disintegrate the dispersible tablet in water and take orally, or swallow directly.
‌Precautions: Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal), avoid taking with high-fat food to affect absorption.
Important Precautions
‌Liver function monitoring: Regular liver function checks are required before and during treatment. If transaminase is significantly elevated, the dose should be reduced or the drug should be discontinued.
‌Contraception requirements: Women of childbearing age should take high-efficiency contraceptive measures during medication, and it is prohibited during pregnancy (may cause fetal malformations).
‌Drug interactions: Avoid co-use with cyclosporine, glyburide, etc., which may increase the risk of liver damage or drug toxicity.
Common side effects
‌Mild reactions: Headache, facial flushing, lower limb edema, indigestion.
‌Serious risks: Liver damage (manifested as jaundice, abdominal pain), anemia, syncope, and immediate medical attention is required.

‌Storage: Store in a sealed container below 25°C away from light, and out of reach of children.
‌Contraindications‌: People with moderate to severe liver damage, pregnant or lactating women, and those who are allergic to the ingredients.
