Potassium bismuth citrate is an organic compound with the chemical formula
It is a drug for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also used for combined ulcers, multiple ulcers, anastomotic ulcers and erosive gastritis. When used in combination with antibiotics, it can eradicate Helicobacter pylori. It is used for gastric and duodenal ulcers and chronic gastritis related to Helicobacter pylori, gastric MALT lymphoma, postoperative early gastric cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease and functional dyspepsia. It can also be combined with drugs that inhibit gastric acid secretion (proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor antagonists) to form a quadruple regimen as a salvage treatment for failure to eradicate Helicobacter pylori.
