Apixaban

Function:
Apixaban is indicated for the prevention of venous thromboembolic events (VTE) in adult patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement.

Dosage:
The recommended dose of this product is 2.5 mg each time, taken orally twice a day with water, and is not affected by meals. The first medication should be taken between 12 and 24 hours after surgery. When deciding when to take medication during this time window, physicians need to consider both the potential benefit of early anticoagulation to prevent VTE and the risk of postoperative bleeding. For patients undergoing hip replacement surgery: The recommended course of treatment is 32 to 38 days. For patients undergoing knee replacement surgery: The recommended course of treatment is 10 to 14 days. If a dose is missed, the patient should take the drug immediately and then continue taking the drug twice daily. When switching from injectable anticoagulants to treatment with this product, treatment can start from the next administration time point (and vice versa). If the patient cannot swallow the whole tablet, the product can be crushed and suspended in water or 5% glucose solution, or apple juice, or mixed with applesauce and taken immediately. Or crush this product, suspend it in 60 ml of water or 5% glucose solution, and administer it through a nasogastric tube in a timely manner. Crushed product is stable within 4 hours in water, 5% glucose solution, apple juice and applesauce.
