Paclitaxel albumin-bound is a chemotherapy drug. Paclitaxel is combined with human albumin to form nanoparticles to improve drug solubility and tumor targeting. It is mainly used to treat various malignant tumors such as breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Its advantage is that it does not require the use of cosolvents in traditional paclitaxel preparations, which can reduce the risk of allergies and enhance the drug concentration in tumor tissues through albumin-mediated transport mechanisms.
Indications and Mechanism of Action
Indications: Mainly used for advanced or metastatic breast cancer (first-line treatment), locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (combined chemotherapy), metastatic pancreatic cancer (combined regimen), etc.
Mechanism of Action: Paclitaxel inhibits cancer cell division by stabilizing microtubule structure; albumin is used as a carrier to utilize the high metabolic characteristics of the tumor microenvironment to deliver drugs through cell membrane surface albumin receptors (such as SPARC) to improve efficacy.
Precautions for use
Pretreatment requirements: Dexamethasone, antihistamines, etc. should be used before administration to prevent allergic reactions. The specific plan is formulated by the doctor.
Dosage method:
Intravenous drip, the dosage is calculated based on the body surface area, usually once every 3 weeks, and the dosage needs to be adjusted strictly according to the doctor’s instructions.
Side effect management:
Common side effects: bone marrow suppression (such as neutropenia), peripheral neuropathy (numbness of hands and feet), fatigue, hair loss, etc.;
Serious reactions: allergic reactions, serious infections, immediate medical attention is required.
Contraindications and cautions
Contraindications: People who are allergic to paclitaxel or human albumin, those with low neutrophil basal count, and pregnant women;
Use with caution: Patients with impaired liver and kidney function, previous history of neuropathy or cardiovascular disease, need to adjust the dosage after evaluation by a doctor.
Medication guidance
Preparation before treatment: Complete blood routine, liver and kidney function tests, and evaluate underlying diseases;
During treatment: Regularly monitor blood count and nerve function, and contact a doctor in time if fever or severe numbness of hands and feet occurs;
Follow-up: Long-term follow-up is required after completing the course of treatment to monitor recurrence or long-term side effects (such as neurotoxicity). Important Tips: Paclitaxel albumin-bound is a prescription drug and must be used strictly according to the doctor’s instructions. Do not adjust the dose or stop taking the drug on your own. If you experience acute symptoms such as dyspnea and chest pain during treatment, you should seek medical attention immediately.
