clofazimine

Effects and efficacy:
As a drug of choice for the treatment of lepromatous leprosy, it should usually be used in combination with dapsone. It is used in combination with rifampicin or ethionamide to treat infections caused by strains resistant to sulfone drugs. This product can also be used for erythematous nodular leprosy reactions and acute leprosy reactions caused by other drugs. This product can also be used in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs for AIDS patients complicated by atypical mycobacterial infections, but the clinical efficacy is often unsatisfactory.
Usage and dosage:
It should be taken with food or milk. The maximum daily dose for adults should not exceed 300 mg, and the pediatric dose has not yet been confirmed. For all types of leprosy resistant to dapsone, take 50-100 mg orally once a day, and combine with one or more other anti-leprosy drugs. For all types of leprosy with erythematous nodular leprosy reactions, patients with nerve damage or skin ulcers should take 100-300 mg orally every day, which helps to reduce and withdraw prednisone (40-80 mg per day). After the reaction is controlled, gradually reduce to 100 mg per day. In order to achieve sufficient drug concentration in the tissue, the dosage of prednisone should be gradually reduced after 2 months of medication. If there is no ominous sign of nerve damage or skin ulcer, treat it as various types of leprosy resistant to dapsone. This product can be used in combination with two other anti-leprosy drugs to treat various types of leprosy sensitive to dapsone. If possible, the three drugs should be used together for at least 2 years until the skin smear turns negative. After that, continue to use a suitable drug.
Drug contraindications:
